The American Disease...a symptom of which is also a complete bastardisation of the English language, especially "different than". Commentators who charge money for people to hear their views, yet who can't even speak or write English properly, are essentially frauds, and need to be denounced as such.

"different than" is not an Americanism. It is English. You'll find many phrases used in America originated in England in past centuries, preserved like flies in amber. Like "soccer".

"Different than" isn't English; it's ungrammatical nonsense. Different FROM is the correct, grammatical English phrase to use. If you don't acknowledge this, then your grasp of English is non-existent.
